Harrow Council confirmed a £1.4 million investment package to upgrade several leisure facilities across the borough. The funding, announced in June 2024, is intended to modernise gyms, swimming pools, and sports halls, supporting increased participation in physical activity among residents.

According to council leaders, the investment will be used for essential repairs, new equipment, and energy efficiency improvements. Cllr Paul Osborn, Leader of Harrow Council, stated, “This investment will ensure our leisure centres remain fit for purpose and accessible to all.” The council highlighted that the upgrades are expected to benefit thousands of users each week.

Facilities set for improvement include Harrow Leisure Centre, Hatch End Swimming Pool, and Bannister Sports Centre. The council is working with operator Everyone Active to deliver the upgrades, with work scheduled to begin later in 2024 and continue into 2025.

This investment follows previous funding rounds and forms part of Harrow Council’s broader strategy to promote healthy lifestyles and community engagement. Further details on the timeline and specific projects will be released as plans progress.
